Best American Essays 2015. This piece was the winner of
American Literary Review's nonfiction contest last year, and a finalist in
Narrative's winter 2013 Story Contest.

That's a beautiful, insightful essay, Xujun. I have never realized the place of Three Gorges in Chinese culture. I had mostly heard about the adverse environmental effects. All good wishes.
